Amsterdam, the Netherlands, April 30 2013



After 33 years as monarch of the Netherlands, HM. Queen Beatrix abdicated the throne and her son Willem-Alexander became the new King. Following the abdication, now Princess Beatrix came on the balcony of the Royal Palace together with the new King Willem-Alexander and his wife now queen Máxima.  A little later, also the princesses Amalia, Alexia and Ariane joined their parents on the balcony, to wave at the crowd.



All over the country, celebrations took place to celebrate the new King. Especially in Amsterdam, where in the afternoon the official Investiture of the new King took place, and later in the evening the Royal boat ride on the River IJ, there was huge feast everywhere

Hi, I'm Steppeland, female :)
Born in Flanders, Belgium (1958) and living in a very intercultural neighbourhood in Amsterdam South-East, the Netherlands.

oh, most welcome, Nuno, I was most surprised to find that I wasn't watching you for a long time yet , DOH - long overdue!! - but it does mean that your work for me pops out in the load of messages coming in from groups every time..., and that I get to see it that way :nod: :D :thumbsup:
