Woods at dawn
- download for larger size -

Trying to catch the sunlight, but still, never succeeding.
This is a series of photographs trying to catch the sunlight at dawn... how hard to get it right.
I guess I should use filters - and a tripod ...
These pics are not perfect, but I am learning, and think they may be useful as backgrounds -
Comments, constructive critique and replies always welcome!

So let's hear from you!

Hunney,, there's a wood between Pijnacker and Nootdorp, we can see it from the Randstadrail. It's bigger than it seems, I made the snowy pics there ;]

:aww: Thank you!

Yeah, this one was made while I was on holiday, but although the woody part in the park and the nature reserve nearby aren't that old, I think I would be able to make similar shots there...
I hope you have other beautiful landscapes or subjects to photograph in your area then  - it indeed is a privilege to have so many beautiful nature within walking distance...

Wonderfull hunneypop :]
I love that you can see the sunshine in the air in some parts, and not in other parts (get what I mean? o.O)
The branch looks a bit sad, but there's the hope of a new day shining behind it. It's wonderfull ^^

Perhaps you could change your point of view to get the sunlight better. Like, you only have a very small gap behind the trees, and from where you're standing the sun comes trough that gap. But next to it is a bigger gap, if you stand with the sun coming trough that one, perhaps you get the beams better.
But I really dunnow hunney. I just would have tried if I was standing there, but I don't know if it would work.

Thank you very much, Anne. Yes, you are right, in these circumstances it is a matter of shifting, bowing and/or stretching to find the right position - and of course, I did quite a bit of that while I was photographing. Circumstances were kind of limiting how far I could move though, like... more branches and blackberrie (bramen) exactly where I was standing and would have to squat (hurken) - and a very wet ground because of the dew too...
I always do carry a large black plasic sheet with me, and I did use it later that morning to make photographs of dew on the grass - but at this early moment, while it was still half dark in the wood, I just really didn't feel like it :giggle:
A lower viewpoint, with the leaves larger in the foreground, would have been better though, definitely. Taking into account that I wanted to stay on my feet, and that my mobility is still limited because of my health, this was about the lowest i could get :lmao:
Great that you help me look at it and learn! Next time, I may pull out that plastic bag anyway :giggle: Thank you

I really like this picture, even if you say it's not of quality. Maybe the dawn's light isn't meant to be caught so precisely. I think the glow in this picture is a more accurate depiction of dawn in the woods..

:aww: Thank you so much, dear! I really appreciate your words... yes, technically spoken, I thing I shouldn't have that yellow rim around the sun-spot, and just don't know how to avoid that kind of effects ... But indeed, the atmosphere in these pictures, ... they do capture somehow that serene... breathless silence and glow of dawn in the woods. Thank you so much for your comment!
